Visit Warsaw for free: top attractions!

Usually there is an entrance fee to every cultural institution in Warsaw. Although, sometimes the authorities of the city organise days, nights or even months, when you don’t have to pay. People of course use this privilege and queues to some top museum get terribly long! It’s actually quite funny phenomenon, because there are days in the week, when admission to various cultural institutions in Warsaw is free regularly!

Below I prepared for you a list of sites available for free on specific days and times. I used this prerogative more than once in different places and you know what is the funniest? That none of those places has been never crowded during free days!

So if you are staying in Warsaw for weekend, few days or even longer time – use it and abuse it. This list is all for you!

Some practical info:

To explore a single exposure usually you have to spend approx. 2 hours.

In Poland (and as far as I know most European countries) Monday usually is a day off from work in cultural institutions, like museums. However, sometimes the authorities choose another day as a day off and in such cases I wrote this at a particular museum.

PS. Obviously, when it comes to museums, the free entrance is to constant exhibitions and not temporary, which are extra paid. All the info is valid for October 2014.

If you plan your trip to Warsaw, I really recommand choosing those free days. Normally, the cost of normal tickets to all these institutions for one person is about 200 zł (about 50 euros). Isn’t it better to spend this money on something else? Of course it is!

Have you ever been to Warsaw? Have you visited any of those places? Which places would you recommend to others? And if not – what would you most like to visit? Share your opinions in the comments below!

  1. Hello,

I was in Warszawa in September and I would like to mention that the Pałac na Wyspie (Palace on the Island) is sometimes closed without prior notice, for example when it is used for conferences.

Pałac Myślewicki was also closed due to renovation.

  2. Hey Hanna,

Thank you for this very complete article.

One comment: the free day for the Museum of the Polish Army (Muzeum Wojska Polskiego) is now Saturday. (just went there)
